After a slow start, winning 1 of their first 7 games, the team rebounded and ended up winning 9 of their final 13 games including a 7-game winning streak. They took 3rd place in the Blazer Invitational Tournament.
The 2016-17 Cagers had a fantastic year. After a slow start (3-4) the Cagers got on a roll and found their identity at both ends of the court. After placing 2nd in the Blazer Invitational Tournament, the Cagers roared to win 12 of their final 14 games in route to a 3rd place finish in the NCSAA Division 4B National Tournament. They finished the season with a 15-6 record.
The 2017-18 Cagers continued a string of successful seasons by posting a 12-4 mark that included winning 10 of their last 11 games. It included a 1st place finish in the Blazer Invitational Tournament.
During the 2018-19 season, the Cagers once again started slow, but found their groove in the second half of the season. They maximized their potential winning three of their final four games to post a 6-8 record.
After a two-year hiatus, Hamsher resurrected the Cagers in 2021. Four days before the opening contest, there was not one player committed to play! A lot of prayer and the blessing of the Lord gave way to 8 players showing up to put on a uniform that first game. The 2021-22 version of the Cagers did not disappoint going 13-1 and finishing Runner-up at the NCSAA National Tournament in Division 5A.
The Cagers started the out 2022-2023 season fast, winning 3 of their first 4 games. After that initial loss, the Cagers would set a club record by winning their final 15 games in a row. This included being crowned champions of the 2023 Reimer Rd Showcase.
The 2023-24 Cager basketball team was a team that truly improved from the start of the year until the final buzzer. With a 2-14 record, it would seem that the season was not successful, but to those that saw this team play, they witnessed a group of young men that got better and better as the season went on. According to Coach Hamsher, this team was the most improved and made the greatest strides of any team he has ever coached.
This was the inaugural year for the JH Cagers. The schedule was extremely tough, but the team kept plugging along even with a small roster of just seven players. The highlight of the season was placing 4th in the Coshocton Preseason Tournament.
With a core of players returning from a year ago, the JH Cagers embarked on a very successful campaign. They tripled their wins from last season to end with a 6-5 record. This group defined teamwork as each player bought into their role resulting in continual improvement.
