Before starting the Cagers, Coach Hamsher was the Athletic Director at Kingsway Christian School, OH. In only two years, he developed a championship culture. The Boys Basketball and Middle School Girls Volleyball made trips to the OCSAA Final Four Tournament. The Boys Baseball team won the NACA Divison 4 National Tournament. As head boys basketball coach, Hamsher developed one NCSAA Small School All-American.
Prior to being hired at Kingsway, Hamsher spent 5 years at the small college level as an Assistant coach. From 2011-2012, he was Top Assistant at Bryan College, (TN). While there the Lions developed into one of the best defensive teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. He spent 2010-2011 at Champion Christian College (Ark.) as the Top Assistant helping the Tigers reach the ACCA National Tournament for a sixth straight season. Coach Hamsher coached at Mt. Union College (OH) from 2004-2005 in the ultra-competitive Division III Ohio Athletic Conference. He helped the Purple Raiders reach the semifinals of the conference tournament. From 2002-2004, Hamsher was an assistant at Grove City College (PA). where he helped the Wolverines win 18 games, the 2003 Presidents Athletic Conference Championship, and a post season berth in the Division III ECAC Championship. In 2003, Hamsher was elevated to the Top Assistant position and recruited student-athletes who would later win another conference championship. During his stops at the collegiate level, coach Hamsher contributed to the development of several All-Conference performers and All-Americans. Coach Hamsher has directed camps and clinics across the United States.
As a collegiate athlete, Hamsher played football at Grove City College where he was an All-Conference performer at QB leading the PAC in all-purpose yards his senior season. Hamsher also played basketball for legendary coach John Barr. He was a critical link to a defense that was ranked nationally and was among the league leaders in 3 point percentage his senior year. He was selected to the Western Pennsylvania NCAA D3-NAIA All Star game. He is a firm believer in using sports, specifically basketball, to spread the Good News of Christ. Coach Hamsher has written two books, Character, The Code, and the Cager Way and The Praying Coach,. The strategies included in these books have been implemented by coaches across the country.
